ABOUT US

Hey there!
We're Claire and Martin - a friendly, laid-back couple and the photographers behind Cast in Colour.

Why did we start Cast in Colour?

Claire purchased her first camera at the age of fifteen and fell instantly in love with telling stories through photographs. After graduating high school, she began working as a portrait photographer and this led her to find her true passion of photographing weddings. Claire’s camera obsession soon rubbed off on Martin, who began developing his own love for photography on their overseas adventures.

In 2016 after returning home from a year abroad, we decided to the leap and start our dream wedding photography business – Cast in Colour. Fast forward to today, we’ve photographed more than 150 weddings together and we’re so stoked that Cast in Colour is our full-time job!

How did we meet?

We met as teenagers in our hometown of Adelaide, South Australia. We can’t remember who made the first move, but we’ve been totally inseparable ever since. More than a decade later and we’ve travelled the world together, put down roots in Melbourne and absolutely love getting to work everyday side by side.

Our shooting style is relaxed and fun, we have a knack for making people feel at ease in front of the camera. We’re there to make sure your wedding day is as awesome as it can be. We use our many years of experience to help the day run smoothly - all while making sure every epic moment is captured!

Our Story

Claire’s love for photography began in high school, leading her to refine her craft at RMIT. She started her career in the dynamic world of fashion photography, shooting editorials, campaigns, and even as far as the runways of New York Fashion Week.

After returning home from a year abroad in 2016, a few close friends asked her to capture their weddings, a request that sparked an unexpected but natural evolution in her career. Word quickly spread, and within her first year in the industry, Claire had booked 30 weddings. She fell madly in love with documenting couples and their love stories. The rest was history!

Drawing on her fashion background, Claire approaches weddings with an eye for natural beauty and timeless elegance. She’s passionate about documenting love stories authentically, forming genuine connections with her clients to create portraits that feel both natural and meaningful.

While traveling abroad in 2015, Martin discovered his passion for documentary and street photography. With an incredible eye for unposed, candid moments, he finds joy in exploring new cities with his camera in hand, capturing stories as they naturally unfold.

Martin’s role as second shooter captures an entirely unique perspective throughout the wedding day. He focuses on documentary storytelling and candid photography, capturing moments like your guests' happy tears during the ceremony and deep-belly laughs during the speeches!

All those special moments that might pass you by while you're immersed in the love bubble of the day.

Fun facts about us:

We’re homebodies at heart. Our ideal date night is a delicious home cooked meal (usually by Martin, his pasta is to die for) and getting cosy on the couch to watch a scary movie.

We’re big animal lovers and dog parents to our furry son Monty - the very cheeky toy poodle who has us wrapped around his tiny paw.

If we had to choose a favourite country to travel to, it would have to be Japan! We’ve been lucky to travel there 5 times, and now make it a once a year visit. We love exploring their vibrant cities, whether it’s hot nights in busy Tokyo or the snowy streets of Sapporo!

We moved to Melbourne in 2012 and from the moment we arrived it felt like home. We can’t imagine living anywhere else! We live in a leafy little pocket of the inner west.

In 2015 we travelled the world for 12 months with just two backpacks of belongings and our cameras. It was an incredibly life changing experience and something we’ll both treasure for the rest of our lives.

Claire loves matcha tea, tinkering on the sewing machine and pottering in the garden.

Martin loves strong coffee, live music and firing up the pizza oven on the weekend.
